YouTube has released its most popular video ads of 2015, with “Revenge” from video game Clash of Clans leading the list.

Other brands to make the 2015 ad leaderboard included Hyundai’s “Message to Space” at No. 2, and the Ad Council’s “Love Has No Labels” video at No. 3.

“Social conscience messages landed big on this year’s list of the top 10 ads,” says YouTube. Spots like the Ad Council’s video focusing on diversity and inclusion, Always’ #LikeAGirl campaign, and Fanpage.it’s “Slap Her” all put a spotlight on social issues.

What’s more newsworthy than the overall messages of the ads, however, is the way they were viewed. YouTube says for the fist time ever, more people watched the top 10 ads on mobile devices than on desktop.

The top 10 ads had 470 million views in 2015… nearly two-thirds of those views happened on mobile.
According to YouTube, overall views for the brand channels that had videos on the 2015 leaderboard doubled this year, with subscriptions for the channels increasing more than 80 percent during the year.

YouTube’s Top 10 Video Ads of 2015
1. Clash of Clans: Revenge

2. Hyundai : A Message to Space

3. Ad Council: Love Has No Labels | Diversity & Inclusion

4. Boom Beach: Speech

5. Adidas: Unfollow featuring Leo Messi

6. Always: #LikeAGirl – Unstoppable

7. Durex: #Connect

8. Samsung: Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge Introduction

9. Fanpage.it: Slap Her

10. Budweiser USA: Lost Dog | Super Bowl 2015

Along with its top video ads, YouTube also ranked the top video game trailers and its most-watched videos overall. On the video game front, trailers for Star Wars Battlefront, Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 Teaser and the Official Call of Duty: Black Ops III Reveal led the list.

Of YouTube’s most-watched videos overall, two ads made the top ten list – the Clash of Clans’ “Revenge” at No. 2 and the Ad Council’s “Love Has No Labels” at No. 4.

The most-watched video on YouTube this year was Silento’s “Watch Me Whip/Nae Nae” with the young dancer Heaven King and the rest of her dance crew performing to the popular song.

YouTube touted its influence on music, citing how the No. 1 most-watched video is evidence that YouTube is now the “go-to place” for dance and music fans.

“Interestingly, the top video was part of the launch marketing strategy for the song,” says YouTube.

According to YouTube, the top 10 most-watched videos on the site in 2015 accumulated 550 million views and generated more than 25 million hours of watch time. The channels behind the top 10 videos have a collective 40 million subscribers.

Use AdBrite on top of other ad services

Why use AdBrite on top of other ad services?

Imagine you knit sweaters and sell them on eBay. You typically sell a handful a month, but then you learn that one of your customers owns a chain of clothing stores. After some successful transactions, you both decide that partnering outside of eBay would be beneficial and to create a more formalized partnership. You now have something much larger than what you initially had through eBay.

AdBrite is very similar to this concept.

If you put up some premium ad spots up for sale in the marketplace you will have many advertisers who try out your site. Some will work, and some will not, but as you start to get more consistent advertisers you will be able to build larger advertising relationships and sponsorships that are completely within your control. You know who is buying ads, what they are paying, and whether they have seen success with your site (based on repurchaing). This is also the perfect lead source if you have an internal sales team selling ads for your site.

Other ad services control the advertising relationships and typically pay quite well. AdBrite is your opportunity to control your advertising relationships so that all of your revenue is not dependent upon the success of your ad network.

There is no reason not to have some inventory up for sale in the AdBrite marketplace, because the code on your site can be completely hidden, and you can set pricing, so you never know when an advertiser might come shopping through the AdBrite Marketplace and pay the price you demand for certain inventory.

Tips and Tricks.

- Never start your pricing too high. It is better to error on the low side and get advertisers hooked, because then they will be willing to pay higher prices for your inventory when the pricing increases.

- Make sure your placement is worth buying, the popular sellers in the marketplace tend to be sites with the most premium inventory.

- Spend some time tagging your site, and giving proper demographic information

- In your site description provide ideas of advertisers that you think might convert well. You know your audience best.

- AdBrite is more successful if you sell a FEW premium placements as oppposed to just MANY backfill placements.

- Hard code all placements. because of the concreteness of "your ad here". Putting AdBrite in rotation doesn't perform as well. Just like an auction, the beginning price is never the final price.

- Allow a ramping period. AdBrite is a tool to help sell your own inventory, and think of it as a virtual salesperson for you. Any salesperson needs some time to gain traction.

- Entice advertisers with specials. You have full control to set pricing so make occasional specials to entice advertisers.

- Enable AdBrite’s auto pricing which will raise automatically as inventory sells, and lower itself as vacant inventory sits unsold.

Combining AdSense and Adbrite to Monetize Your Site

By : Anthony Vicenza

Have you been doing researching ways to make money with Internet marketing? If so, then you may have found that two good resources for making passive income are AdSense and Adbrite. Each program has its own specific advantages and disadvantages, but either one can help you earn a significant amount of money from your websites or blogs.

Because each program has its own unique characteristics, some Internet marketers have begun to use both AdSense and Adbrite on their sites. From a marketing standpoint, this makes sense, because you will have several different types of ads to offer to your readers. However, there are a couple of important considerations that you should think about before combining AdSense and Adbrite to monetize your website or blog.

First, keep in mind that Google (the owner of AdSense) does not like web pages that contain both AdSense ads and other types of contextual ads. In fact, Google may choose to suspend your AdSense account if it finds a web page that contains multiple types of contextual ads.

One way to get around this is to make sure they each page of your website contains only Adsense ads or Adbrite ads. You can have both types of ads on the same website, as long as they both do not appear one the same page. Also, you can create multiple websites, and only use one type of ad on each website. This can actually help you, because it will be easier to compare the performance of your ads to see which program works better.

Another thing to consider when combining Adsense and Adbrite to monetize your website is that each program has a minimum payout - that is, your earnings must reach a certain threshold before the company will send you a check. So if you use both types of ads, it may take you longer to get your hands on the money you have earned from contextual ads.

If you are willing to consider these factors when building your website, combining Adsense and Adbrite ads on your website can be a great way to maximize your website's revenue.
